AUSTIN, Texas (May 20, 2020) – Operation FINALLY HOME and National Seating & Mobility (NSM) teamed to provide a new wheelchair ramp for U.S. Marine veteran Ray Marin at his home in Austin, Texas. The project marks the beginning of a new partnership between the two organizations to support mobility and accessibility for veterans in need.

The mission of Operation FINALLY HOME is to provide mortgage-free homes and home modifications for America’s military heroes and widows of the fallen. NSM is the leading provider of complete mobility solutions; including mobility equipment, home & vehicle accessibility and maintenance & repair services supporting independence for individuals with mobility challenges.

“NSM’s mission and values align well with our own as we all work toward creating a more comfortable and independent life for those in need,” said Rusty Carroll, Operation FINALLY HOME Executive Director. “We are grateful for their support on this project and look forward to partnering on future needs for the veterans we serve.”

Marin served in the U.S. Marines for six years during the Vietnam War. Following open heart surgery, a stroke and a battle with cancer, Operation FINALLY HOME provided home modifications to support his needs. NSM collaborated with National Ramp on the donation and installation of a new ramp providing a more secure entry to the Marin home.

“NSM responded so quickly and the new ramp looks like it was made for our back-door threshold,” said Marin. “Lucy and I can now go to our backyard to be in the sunshine, walk our dogs and enjoy our waterfall.”

Operation FINALLY HOME and NSM will work together to assist other veterans with mobility and accessibility challenges in markets where NSM has a presence.

“NSM is committed to breaking down barriers to support independence for all who deserve to live life without limitations,” said Bill Mixon, NSM CEO. “We are honored to work with Operation FINALLY HOME to provide home solutions for our country’s veterans, including this deserving Marine and his family.”
