In 1991, Mike Ballard was working as an investment banker. In 1992, he founded National Seating & Mobility and ran it from his home. His idea was to build a company of wheeled mobility Rehabilitation Technology Specialists (RTS), who would work with physicians, therapists and their patients, to provide customized, adaptive seating systems - not just sell products out of a box.
